OEA Assists Environment Canada with GEO Initiative Release Date: 31 October 2004 OEA Technologies Inc has completed a project designed to assist Environment Canada (EC) with development of the federal government’s GEO position. The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is an international ad hoc group that aims to develop multi-national, coordinated and sustainable Earth-observation systems. The group will hold its fifth summit in Ottawa next month. Its first summit was held in 2003.
The project focused on assessing the socio-economic benefits of Earth observation from a marine environmental perspective, and assisting team members from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (DFO) on the GEO component pertaining to Improving the Management and Protection of Coastal and Marine Ecosystems.
